Pre-gamescom Series | Episode 1: On-screen Text, Small Layer, Big Problem

The Invisible Work Behind Every Gamescom Trailer is our four-part series exploring everything that happens after a trailer is approved and before it reaches players around the world. Each episode focuses on one often overlooked part of multimedia localization that can make or break a global launch.

In Episode 1, we focus on one of the most overlooked challenges: on-screen text. When text is embedded directly into a video, localization becomes much more than translation. Graphics often need to be recreated, layouts redesigned, animations rebuilt and every element carefully matched to the original.

Sometimes, there are no editable project files available, which means the work starts from the final rendered video itself. It’s a meticulous process that often goes unnoticed, yet it’s essential for creating localized assets that feel native in every language.

At Loc & Capture, this is the kind of invisible work we do every day, helping publishers deliver multimedia content that looks as though it was created for each market from the very beginning.
